| Your pilot is Jason Gaines. Jason has loved the hot air balloon as far back as he can remember. Every time Jason saw a hot air balloon, he would pester his mom or dad to chase it down. He would talk with the pilots and help with the packing up of the balloon at the end of the flight. He took his first ride in a hot air balloon in 1986 at the young age of 13. On his first flight he was able to convince the pilot and owner of the balloon he was worth having around. Jason was a regular at every flight since then. He worked his way up from Crew Member to Crew Chief. Jason never got paid for any of his time over the next 10 years. He would trade his time for balloon rides and eventually flight instruction. First receiving his "Student Pilot Certificate" then his "Private Pilot Certificate" and finally his "Commercial Flight Certificate". With this Commercial Flight Certificate, Jason is certified by the FAA as a flight instructor. At approximately 100 balloon flights a year, Jason is well trained. Along with the balloon flights, Jason also attends safety seminars and flight review which are monitored by the FAA. Jason has flown in all parts of the country including the balloon race held at Forest Park in St. Louis every year. | Think
